Celebrating 30 Years of Healing: My Journey from Tiverton House to Today

This summer marks a joyful milestone for me: 30 years since I first opened the doors to my osteopathy clinic. Back in 1995, it all began in my brother’s old bedroom in our family home, at Tiverton House in Bucklebury. Today, I continue my life’s work from my home in Compton in Berkshire – still treating, still listening, still making people feel better in body and spirit.
This celebration is about much more than a number. It’s about the fact that I’ve spent three decades helping others heal – often through their biggest life challenges – while navigating my own. It’s about community, resilience and the power of touch. Above all, it’s about encouraging everyone to live with vitality, mischief and purpose, at any age.
Healing Starts at Home
From day one, I knew I was meant to care for others. My childhood dream was to become a physiotherapist, but when life took a different turn, it led me to osteopathy and a path that felt like home.
While supporting my parents through their own health issues, I was also building a practice that would grow into something extraordinary. Patients travelled to see me not just for treatment, but for the warmth, honesty and sense of being truly heard. “Coming to see Sophie was like a little outing,” many have said over the years – and that feeling remains today.
Cradle to Grave Care
Over time, my reputation grew. I didn’t just treat individuals; I have cared for whole families, often across two or even three generations. From newborn babies to elderly grandparents, I’ve supported my patients through sports injuries, pregnancy, chronic pain and the everyday wear and tear of life.
What sets me apart, I think, is the deep relationships I build. My patients are not just appointments in a diary – they’re part of a wider story. Osteopathy is about connection; it’s not just bones and muscles. It’s about helping people feel more like themselves again.
A Health Journey of My Own
My story includes challenges, too. Divorce, loss, burnout, breast cancer and surgical menopause are chapters in my personal book. (Maybe I’ll write it one day!) They’re not the end of the story. They’re turning points. They’re what make me not just an osteopath, but a guide – someone who understands what it means to feel lost and how to find your way back.
After so many turning points, in 2017, feeling physically and emotionally broken, I discovered Isagenix. It’s a health and nutrition company that offered me more than just supplements. It gave me a way to rebuild my energy, support my immune system and feel strong again. I started using the products myself and eventually began recommending them to others.
It was about putting my oxygen mask on first. When you’re hearing other people’s stories all day and dealing with your own, you need to refill your cup.
I found the synergy between Isagenix and osteopathy refreshing and intuitive. Both are rooted in the belief that the body has its own medicine chest. With the right support, our bodies can heal themselves.
Growing Old Disgracefully
After 30 years in business, I still have no intention of slowing down. In fact, my goal is to “grow old disgracefully” with energy, humour and the freedom to dance, laugh and live well. I want the same for my patients.
Whether it’s recovering from injury, navigating menopause, or just finding the energy to enjoy life again, I am passionate about helping people discover what their bodies are capable of, at any age.
Post-menopause was rough for me, but I learned a lot. I went back to basics. Now I use that knowledge to support others going through the same thing.
My practice now is just as much about maintenance as it is about treatment. It’s about feeling your best so you can live your life fully – whether that’s chasing your grandchildren, gardening with ease, or heading out dancing in leopard-print shoes.
A Community Celebration
To mark 30 years of care, I’d love to celebrate with you this summer. Come and see me for a check-up, a chat or a cup of coffee.
Whether you’ve known me for years or are just discovering me now, come along and raise a glass to thirty years of healing hands, open ears and joyful rebellion. You’re part of my journey and I want to celebrate you.
Because life is too short to age quietly.
